To all CoB Clanmates and Friends,
I am writing this message in behalf of the CoB Management Team to let all of you know about the decision we have made concerning the verdict of the CoB clan and I apologize to those who haven't been given a heads up by the time this decision was made. But before that..
I have so many people to thank for their support and dedication for this clan that it is impossible for me to get to see you all with the difference in our timezones and my hectic schedule. I truly am humbled to have fought alongside with such a group of comrades to defend the glory of this clan (and for the past clans that we've been together) and I am so proud of the achievements that everyone of you have accomplished both in the clan's operation and (for quite a lot of you) for your own personal accomplishments.
To those who have been and those who have acted as team leaders on my absence, the efforts and contributions have been outstanding.
I have learnt so much within my time of managing and keeping this clan stay on its feet and now possess a greater understanding of the difficulties that most of you encounter. To those of you that I had the opportunity to assist and or set goals for, I commend each of you for your achievements and hope that you continue to succeed not only through your RS life but also in your real life journeys.
I know it's unfair, especially to those who have been loyal to this clan that are still supporting and those who have just joined. The CoB clan has had it's prime and I feel bad for those who didn't get to be a part of it. Due to some circumstances that occured, we realized that CoB has reached its limit. Therefore, it is about time we end this clan for good. Many thanks to all who have been a friend and who have been supportive of the Children of Bathala clan in the long run. It is very much appreciated.
We now declare the end of CoB and leave without any regrets and with a great confidence in the people who have been a part of it, knowing that they are capable of overcoming any hurdles that will come up, singularly, and more importantly, together. We have managed to assemble a competent and practical clan (that some regard of as their second family) that provide good support to each other. This provides me with a sense of pride and gratitude that is indescribable.
Thanks, regards and best wishes,
Dirck41 and Team

After Jagex announced their macro detection update a lot of people were naturally concerned about the future of their account. This post aims to address these issues and provide information on staying safe.
It is not told what systems are used to detect macros in RuneScape. It is very common for computer games to use anti-cheat software like PunkBuster or NProtect. These work by scanning your files and running processes. In essence they are like trojan horse or rootkit viruses, but you legally agree to them when you install or sign-up to the game. World of Warcraft even uses a custom designed mechanism. Since this is an industry standard practice it is safe to assume Jagex also has these advanced and unavoidable checks in place for RuneScape.
Knowing this there is good reason to believe when they say "We have reviewed all the macro programs available, and there are none we cannot detect." This means every bot and macro is unsafe - iBot/Nexus, ****, **********, SRL SCAR, SeedBot, SconBot, RSBot and all private or lesser known ones. Here at RSBot we respect our users by being open and honest, if other cheating communities tell you their bot is undetectable they are lying.
Tips for staying unbanned
Most people agree that cheaters play a major role in the game economy as well as giving Jagex more membership sales. Provided you are a responsible and non-disruptive player there is no reason for your account to be banned, regardless of whether they know you use bots. Here is a helpful guideline:
* Limit yourself to botting for a maximum of 8 hours per day
* Only use reliable scripts that have been well tested, like the ones that come in the official download and SVN
* When trying a new script check back on your computer every few minutes to be sure it is working smoothly
* Play legit from time to time - do a quest, go on PVP worlds and make good posts in the official forums
* Do not start botting on more than one account, especially not low level skillers
* Buy membership with a credit card if you can
* Abide by the other game rules so you do not get black marks for offensive language, item scamming et al.
Frequently asked questions
* Loads of people are saying RSBot got their accounts banned, so is it really safe?
o There are people who have been using RSBot on their main accounts for many months without getting warned or banned. It all depends on how you use the bot - cutting Yews 24/7 is very likely to get you banned, using it responsibly as mentioned earlier will not. RSBot is a very powerful tool and it is easy to get carried away if you do not have self-control. Since we have a large community we have a large number of stupid kids that do not know this. If they got banned it was their fault, not the bots.
* RSBot uses BCEL, other bots use reflection. Which one is better?
o The short answer is BCEL. As explained earlier both methods can be detected by Jagex, so neither one provides advantages in terms of safety. However, reflection is a CPU and memory intensive process. This means most people will find that reflection bots heavily lag their computer. BCEL is a much cleaner method which modifies the low level core of the client, resulting in better performance and less CPU requirement.
* Is it a good idea to try out other bots and macros?
o If you have already used RSBot or another cheating program chances are you have already been flagged. Trying more bots will only add fuel to the fire. If anything you should be toning down your cheating activity, not increasing it. If you plan to move away from RSBot to other ones bear in mind you carry a great risk.
* Will RSBot ever die?
o The beauty of open source is that a project like this can never die. Since RSBot was created there have been contributions by over 20 experienced Java programmers and high quality scripts created by many talented people from the community. Despite the bad news from RuneScape our community continues to grow and has become the centre of RuneScape cheating. We won't go down without a fight :)
An update will be ready by the 10th September, the new applet and engine has little effect on the bot. Please wait patiently and do not post about it.

There will be a massive ban, I'm not sure if its on that update but there will be one soon. Apparently jagex is trying to find out a way they can find non Rs website clients. So just like Aryan, there will be a massive ban soon. Unless RSBot 2 comes out soon, none of us will be able to bot without getting banned. Btw, when the update comes out and you turn out to be banned when you log in, DO NOT APPEAL AS SOON AS YOU SEE YOU'RE BANNED, THEY'LL PROBABLY AUTO BAN EVERYONE APPEALING FOR 2 WEEKS AFTER UPDATE.
This week sees the release of a massive upgrade to several elements of the RuneScape game engine. These include the RuneTek 5 graphics upgrade described in last week’s developer blog as well as key parts of the game server and RuneScript systems.
The graphics engine update brings with it a complete revamp of the Standard Detail option, bringing resizable window (for everyone) and fullscreen (members only) modes, as well as optional new features that include:
* Distance fogging and sky colour.
* Ground blending and path smoothing.
* Underwater visibility.
We've also improved High Detail mode with shadowing across all world levels (if your computer can support it) and an improved minimap in both versions. You'll also be pleased to know this upgrade has allowed us to fix several long-standing bugs, including:
* Mis-clicking in heavy load areas (such as the Grand Exchange) causing unwanted actions.
* Progress bars on Grand Exchange interfaces not working on several graphics cards.
Less visibly, we've also taken the time to heavily update parts of the server action and scripting systems. This follows on from work we did earlier in the year which Andrew described in this blog. The aim behind this batch of changes was to try to make the timing of actions more consistent across the game, which will help to make future content bugs less likely. We have done weeks of additional testing on these server updates, however, they are quite extensive and incredibly wide-ranging, so if any bugs have managed to slip through the net, we encourage you to submit a bug report.
All told, we have written or re-written around 50,000 lines of the game engine over the last few months to really improve these key areas and allow us to create a whole new set of exciting upgrades over the coming months and years.
This update to the game engine has allowed us to pull both the SD and HD versions of the game into the same applet. As such, we have updated the home page of the website so there is now only one ‘Click here to play’ button. If you wish to switch between using free or member worlds, this can be done using the ‘World Select’ feature, which can be found on the game applet's main menu.
Whether you see an advert above the login screen or not is dependent on whether the last world that you logged in was a free or a members’ world.

In other news...
One thing the new engine has allowed us to do is create context-sensitive cursors. If you choose to turn this option on in the Game Options menu, your mouse cursor will display a small icon of the default interaction with any object, location or NPC – e.g. “Open Door” will change your mouse cursor to an icon of a door opening. These cursors have not been added for every default interaction just yet, but we will be looking to expand upon them in future.
The Special Attack bar in the combat interface now also displays the amount of special attack energy you have remaining as a percentage.
We’ve made some changes to the World Select page. Firstly, you’ll notice we’ve removed some of the information to clean it up a bit. The Quick Chat and PvP columns have moved into the more general ‘Activity/Location’ column. This column will now only specify a flag and country if the world doesn’t have a theme, and we’ve created a RuneScape flag to go with the latter. On the right-hand side you’ll notice a ‘Ping’ column. This displays the response time between you and the servers – lower is better, so this should help you find a lag-free word near you. Note that some of your preferences may have changed if you were previously sorting by some of the removed columns. Simply select your new preferred choice(s) and it will store those for next time.
Mobilising Armies themed worlds now come in two varieties: worlds where games require four players for a game to start, and worlds where games require 20 players to start. Visit the Themed Worlds page to see how many players are required to start a game on each world.
